Working in Paris in the 1870s, Igout became known for his photographs of 19th century academic nudes. Much of his work was published in multiple image format by Calavas.
Louis Jean Baptiste Igout (French, 1837-1881) was primarily known for his photographs of nude studies for painters. Igout sold his studies to students and artists in the absence of a life model. Classically composed and aesthetically lit, Igouts photographs depict models frozen in a pose, removed from action and narrative. His works can be found in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York and the Muse dOrsay, Paris. More on Louis Jean Baptiste Igout

Thank you Henry. I liked the last frame of your post as it is a lovely, more natural view of the classic mother and child poses.
